Something Exciting

Absolutely can not. wait.

I ordered the beauty on the left last night and my tracking info says it should be here next Tuesday. It's a Lendrum Double Treadle Folding Wheel. I was lucky enough to try out a friend's Single Treadle Lendrum about a month ago and absolutely fell in love with it. Talk about a buttery smooth wheel! I knew eventually one would be mine.

*SO EXCITED!*

Ahem. So I've got some roving here (well, actually enough to keep me busy for a while) and I've got others bookmarked for future reference. ;) (Hey Brandy, got any good tips on some I should look into??)

Literally right now it's all I can do to be patient. And that's not working very well at the moment. Luckily I've got some fun distractions over the course of the week. The girls in my weekly Monday afternoon knitting group and I are all getting together Saturday night after I work. We're having our first Knit Night at a friend's community room in her apartment complex. We're going to have snacks, movies, music, and possibly a yarn swap. And maybe a little wine. Or a lot. Who knows? I'm really looking foward to it.

But really, my *must spin RIGHT NOW* desire is soooo strong. Is it Tuesday yet?

congrats on the wheel! the waiting is definitely the hardest part.

will you be going to Shepherd's Harvest Mother's day weekend? oh, and there's a spinning group that meets the first Sunday of the month at The Fiber Studio in Mpls, if it's not too far for you to travel.

Thank you!! I will be at Shepherd's Harvest on Sunday, definitely.

I'm going to have to check out that spinning group for sure - thanks for telling me about it!

Oh the pretty fiber you will make! You are going to be a busy gal! Have fun. I can't wait to see what you spin.

My most absolute favorite is alpaca. But I would just get a little of everything and try it all! I have Lincoln, BFL, Merino/silk/angora, cashmere, yak, Soy silk you will love, falkland, targhee and so much over stuff. Try it all!! LOL

And remember to have the most fun you possible can have with it!

Wee! New stuff to try! Thanks for the tips!

I've got some merino Optim, superwash merino (I'm hoping someday that will be socks), tussah silk coming with my wheel, soy silk, and lots of silk hankies here.

Plus there's tons of fiber at the shop where I work. ;) But I'm going to definitely have to make a study on where and what to get!

Excellent! I just started spinning in January and I absolutely love it. Perhaps we'll meet up at a spin-in sometime. (I'm in St. Paul.)

Favorite places for fiber:

1. Crown (Crack) Mountain Farms. Yummy fiber! I just received some BFL and Superwash merino last night. Their prices are pretty reasonable, too.

2. Shepherd's Harvest=! I went last year, but wasn't a spinner. This year should be extraordinary. I'm going right away Saturday morning. :)

3. Pigeonroof Studios at Etsy.com. I feel like I shouldn't even be telling you about her-- it's a fight to find any roving for sale here. Look for her sneak-ups and purchase fast! Her dyework is gorgeous.

4. 'theranch' at Etsy has affordable and lovely superwash merino batts.

5. Enchantedknoll farms @ Etsy.

6. Crystal Creek Farms @ Etsy. Lovely, huge batts with luxury fibers.

Others I haven't tried, but have looked at: Spunky Eclectic, Twisted Fiber Arts, Interlacements, Yarn Wench (even though I HATE the name!), Art Club, Hello Yarn

Have fun!

Thanks so much, Debra! That's a lot of great information!

I'm definitely planning on going to any spinning meetups/guilds I can find in the area. I've had SUCH a good time meeting up with other knitters in the Metro and I'd love to find a group of spinners, too.

Though I have to work that Saturday of Shepherd's Harvest, I'll definitely be there Sunday. I figure a bit of fiber (ahem, I'm laughing at the word "bit") can be my Mother's Day present. ;)
