Handspun Socks!

My very first project with my own handspun yarn.
Truly truly thrilling.
Needless to say, I'm very proud of these socks.
In a conversation with a friend last week, we were talking about whether we'd knit anything with our handspun or not. I said no, and thought how ridiculous that was.
So last Friday night I wound up the yarn and off I went. Sock #1 was done Sunday afternoon and Sock #2 was finished a day later. Literally could not put them down.
Details:
Pattern: my own modifications on Feather and Fan
Yarn: my own handspun, Blue Faced Leicester
Needles: Knit Picks NP Fixed, US 1, 2.5mm 32" circular
Started: Friday, May 30, 2008
Finished: Monday, June 2, 2008
They are so soft and squishy! And warm. I wore them around last night and while I was spinning. Love these socks!

Wow! They look fantastic! And they will probably feel even better knowing you spun the yarn yourself. Congrats on a great pair of socks. :D
Thanks so much, Meredith!
oh they are wonderful!!
How do you get your k1 p1 ribbing so perfect? I'm tewtally jealous!
Thanks, Sara!!
I use a twisted rib for my k1, p1 ribbing. It makes a very crisp and tidy rib and is done by knitting through the back loop on the k1 sts. Purl regularly.
I love it and use it on most of my socks!
Awesome. One day my goal is to knit a pair of socks with my handspun.
Could you tell me what is the oz, and drafting style you did?
I still can't do long draw darfting even now. Bah...
Hi, Rina!
I had 4.75 oz - 380 yds of the yarn. The socks only took 3.6 oz - 290 yds.
Spun supported longdraw.
You'll get the hang of it!
They are lovely, AJ! I can't help but notice that the yarn is so even which shows that not only do you have nice and neat stitches but perfectly spun yarn. Oh and they look nice and cozy too.
Hi, Sue! It's good to hear from you! Thanks for your nice comment!
It's not perfectly spun, I promise. But the knitting hides that. :)
Holy Cow AJ! That was fast. Are they soft? They look soft to me. I can't wait to see whatelse you make from your home spun collection.
Thanks, Netter! Yes, they are very soft. And sqoooooshy!
Nice job. They do look soft I agree.
They look great - and I wish I could knit that fast!
