Knitting and Lace

*sigh*

I am in love with knitting lace.

At the knitting get together on Wednesday, I bought some lace weight yarn so I could really do lace.

It's Misti Alpaca Lace and the color is Mauve.

This yarn.

This yarn is so soft.

Soft.

And will drape beautifully.

Steven (the yarn store owner) looked it up on a chart and found the suggested needle size is US 2. I'm using US 7. L A C E.

Steven and I brainstormed and he asked if I wanted a cobweb look or a tighter look. I said the cobweb-like look. He recommended any size needle between US 6 and 8.

I think it will be pretty.

See? Very open and airy. And this wasn't even pulled taut.

Ok, now for the Knitting Nite. :)

It was SO fun. There were about 4 of us there that were just there to knit, and there were two there that were taking a class for knitting. We all sat around in these great antique chairs surrounded by walls of yarn. I can't even describe how cozy and utterly fabulous it was. This is the neatest Yarn Store ever. Ever.

Steven was all over the place checking in with the knitters to see how we were all doing and if we had questions. The class knitters were doing great. Oh and get this - there's a little girl that has been coming for these classes. She's eight. Eight.

How awesome is that? I wanted to hug her. But I refrained. I mean, I didn't want to be That Weird Lady.

So anyway.

We sat, we knit, we chatted, we laughed, we oohed and ahhed over everyone's projects, we drooled over the yarn that literally is EVERYWHERE in the store, we exchanged ideas about what new things we want to try, and then we laughed some more.

It was a totally fun night.

And! There's another one tonight. I'm still debating on whether I'm going to go or not....

Aww hell, I'll probably go. I mean, what knitter could resist that kind of fun??
