Entrelac Finished, Not Felted

Look! It's a star! No, wait, it's the bottom of my bag! Is that not the neatest little bottom for a purse? Makes me want to carry it upside down. Seriously!

I've finished it. I took it to the Sit, Sip, & Knit! at Starbucks last night and finished the i-cord edging around the top of the bag. After that I had to figure out what to do for handles.

I had been thinking a few days ago of making three i-cords and then braiding them together, but wasn't sure about that. So I asked Steven last night if he had any ideas for handles for it.

Guess what? He said exactly that same thing! So! Braided handle it was. I ran out of yarn, er, decided to do only one long handle, but I like the way it looks.

Wanna see?

Another view where you can see the i-cord edging on the top of the bag:

Steven also suggested that I might not want to fully felt it completely. That would flatten it out and lose the texture that makes entrelac so beautiful. He said maybe just leave it in the wash long enough for the fibers to start to shrink together, then take it out. Just enough to where it won't be so floppy, but will still have that textured beauty.

I think that's a great idea and hope I can achieve that.

I love how it all spirals in toward the bottom.

Brandy already told me she wants the pattern for it once I write up what I did and all that. I'll probably end up posting it on here, so keep an eye out for that!

Oh, and because I feel like shamelessly plugging myself (again, in case you didn't see the link above), go on over to the Yarn Garage blog and read about last night's Starbucks knitting night!
